Global Harmonized System & Labeling - What You Need to Know

The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the January program -- What Everyone Needs to Know about the Global Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) -- on Friday, January 15.

The keynote speaker will be Douglas Noel Dunbar, CSP, CIH at Lincoln Electric. He has more than 25 years of experience in the occupational safety and industrial hygiene field.

He is the Health and Product Evaluation Manager at Lincoln.

In March 2012 OSHA adopted GHS (Revision 3 of the Purple Book) as its new hazard communication regulation. While compliance deadlines with most aspects of the new rule have passed, the final compliance deadline for workplace implementation in the United States is June 1 of 2016.

Canada, Mexico, the EU, China and many other countries already have adopted various revisions of GHS into their hazard communications and chemical management regulations.

Dunbar's presentation on Friday, January 15 willl include information on:

---The broad sweeping cultural change within the developed and developing worlds as to how chemical hazard information must be managed and communicated.

---How it affects both the private and the public sectors.

---What everyone needs to know about how GHS will affect them so they can make sure their organizations will be in compliance with the new requirements.

Dunlap has worked at Lincoln Electric since 2006, has a bachelor of science degree in safety and hygiene from Indiana University on Pennsylvania and is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m.

The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations may be made online at the LCSC web site listed below.
